I have a 92 Si hatchback with an H22a for probably a 95 lude. I had the motor since march and everything has run smooth. I recently moved to Chicago and the car seems to hate me for it as the dist crapped. The motor has got about 45,000 on it. Problem is the distributor. The car was misfiring and couldn't hit VTEC without some serious detonation. I pulled the dist, and he is catching and squeeling like ive never seen. It was also very rusty inside. When we did the swap I used the stock dist for the 92 Si and everything has run well until know. I replaced the rotating assembly inside the dist, and put a new cap and rotor on. The car ran fine befor I timed it and would hit VTEC with no problem. I wen to time it again and was changing the advance and the car quit running. When I set it back, the car will start but wont stay running. Just before it dies, the tach, not motor, revs to red line and bounces around all stpid like. I left the ECU unplugged for a night hoping to reset it. The weird thing is, that it ran good when the new dist was first installed and now im having these probs. Thanks for any help.

 

check the timing belt ...it might have jumped a tooth because of the distributor.
