I wouldn't even consider the car. A 2000 souldn't have needed a swap yet, not to mention the swapped engine isn't running either. Sounds like bad news to me.

Well to give you a run down. The motor was swapped with a JDM Motor. and tranny swap. Everything hooked up fine in regards to the crank sensors and what not from the USDM to JDM, problem is the Key wont start the car. There was also 3 ecu that came with the car. The USDM ecu for automatic, USDM ecu w/MT, and the JDM ecu w/MT Everything was installed and hooked up properly but the motor would not crank over. Currently the car has been to 2 shops already in MD that came up with no answer, and right now the car has been at B&T for the last 2 weeks and they too seem to be stumped since last fri when i called to check up on the car.

By the way this is my brothers car, Im just trying to get a feeler for this because if this cars JDM motor is operable then we will sell it for a reasonable price. But if it isnt we will drop the price just to get this car sold.

That is why i am asking how much would you pay. My only guess is that the only kind of person who would buy this car(In this Condition) is someone who has a: money to burn, B: A tuner enthusiast who is willing to make this a project car, C: a Track Junkie, Or D: A person with a motor already and just needs a car to put it in.

So if you all had money to burn what would you suggest the selling price should be if i had to sell it?

I too wouldn't consider buying a car that wasnt working, and i definitely feel ya on that. But if you had money to use for a project car how much would you pay for this then?

Well I know with my 2000 SH that if I don't have the right key, the immobilizer system engages and you can't start the car. So unless they transfered the immobilizer system the wrong key wont start the car.

I paid for my working 2000 SH $16,2XX at a Honda Cert. warranty. For a non-working 2000 lude...would be a tough call. Plus...How many miles?

The car i beleive now has a JDM motor with 30,000 miles. I just don't want to be low balled for this vehicle if i sell it to someone and then they get it to work.

Since you mentioned 16k for working engine vhiecle. I honestly would try to sell for 7,500. I figured all anyone would need is to drop another engine in there and if they wanted to sell the current JDM motor in thecar already. So in actuality to get everything running you still looking at less then 10,000 for a Prelude but either way you would still save 6k.

I sold my M3 without a working engine for $5,000 dollars because i know it will cost 4500 just for the engine alone. and then another 1500 for total installation. All together the buyer would've spent 11,000. Had i sold the car with a running engine i would've sold it only for 12,000. Which is NADA value.

So im basing this sale on the prelude based on NADA value of a working Prelude which being 12,000 dollars. WOuld offering a price of $7,500 be a acceptable price to offer if i were to sell?

you have to also take into account that people tend to prefer stock or unmodified cars.

this car blows that out of the water... you'll get 4-5k if you are lucky.

also take into consideration that you should be going on what others are paying in your area for the cheapest preludes (autos most likely) because they all have the same shell basically.

Im thinking worst case scenario the lowest we could go is 5,000 even

IS this price fair enough on my end but at the same time enough to attract buyers?

Reason i ask this was cause when i posted my M3 for sale i had sold it without an engine and on the ad i posted the car being a car for someone who is willing to make this car into a project car or track car. Sure enough I sold the vehicle to someone who wanted to make a project car out of my M3. I based the price on the NADA value if i had sold it in running conditions. I didnt want to low ball the price on my end, but i also wanted to attract customers would be willing to buy at the asking price. I even broke it down to the buyer of how much it were to sell and why i was selling at the price that i gave. Funny thing is the buyer wanted 4,000 for my m3 and then i told him that i would not budge and that i would stick at 5k, and then i told him how much it would cost for a new engine and installation and said that if he were to buy another car as mines he'd still shell out alot more because he would not be able to get the final price of a working m3. Sure enough he realised that my asking price was within reason.
