Default Supra Vs. 4th gen VTEC

So my buddy got a raise and to cellebrate he wanted me to go check out a 93 auto non turbo supra. Well he ended up buying the 3000+lb hunk of toyota metal and now insists on knowing if he can beat me or not. I figure i can still out handle and kill him in the corner. His car is auto and it does have 220 horses in a straight six. So who would end up victorious?

Well i know that the 5 speed N/A supra's run a 15.2 in the 1/4 mile but you said he was an auto so it would be more like a 15.7 maybe as a guess. So if you are a 5 speed you should take him unless you screw up but if you are an auto it will probely be pretty close, but i dont think they made 4th gen Vtec's in auto now that i think of it.

Couldn't have been much of a raise. I feel bad for him... truly. No way in hell he'll beat you, and on top of that, he'll pay for it. Probably blow a rad hose trying and crack his head. End up in the shop every other week for one thing or another. You'll kill him.

BTW, the turbo had 220

The only auto Supra that is faster than the 5sp ones stock is the TT version, auto N/A ones are butt slow, a 5sp Prelude can smoke it left and right.

That's right, those things did have serious issues with blown head gaskets... they are so common with the MkIII crowd, they just say BHG and everyone knows what they mean. Kinda like apex seals in RX-7's, and those guys wonder why I still have my civic, because it never fu*ks up, that's why.

BTW, you'd stomp him. Automatic Supra's are just for looks.

Yea, that's why he decided to throw down the 16g-because he liked the look of the car (but really doesn't). But i am afraid he's gonna get tired of being taken by GSRs and of course my prelude, and try to get his hands on a turbo or even tt supra.

Before you two baffoons insist on sounding even more dumb, do some research. If you know Preludes, stick to Preludes, but don't try to spread your incorrect information.

I agree with you here Hua, the Supra was a great car.

Kai I've never heard this issue, do you have some more info you can link us. I'd like to something about this.

I nearly beat a Supra before. The Supra was a manual but non turbo I think. I was still beaten due to my slush-o-matic (auto) VTEC but not too much, by about 2 car lengths.
