Default thinkin about buyin a prelude...

Hey guys, i'm new to this place and i'm lookin for some help. I'm 17 years old, and i'm about to buy my first car, i was thinkin of buyin a prelude because it looks nice and i heard it drives like a babe. Now... my budget is 12000 canadian, that's around 10000us with the exchange rate right now, so can anyone suggest me what kind of prelude i should get? like what year and with what kind of km/miles? thanks so much

You could get a really nice 4th gen (92-96) or probably a decent 5th gen (97-01). Make sure you check the maintenance records. Whatever you do, get a stick, and if you get a 5th gen be aware that the sportshift semi-automatic has a bad habit of failing.

Yes, they're wonderful cars. Wow, that's a lot of money to throw down for a first car at 17, I'm jealous.

of it's like a newer model in the lineup, getting ones with already placed modifications could void any warranties/added extended warranties if something was to fail for whatever reason, if everything seems okay, then some mods are cool.. but a stock one, you can customize to your wants if you're into tuning and plan on keeping the car for a good amount of time..

I concur. Also with the 5th gen do a LOT of research on the oil burning issue. Try to find a stock one with as low mileage as you can. Good Luck.

As your first car, a bone stock Prelude is fast enough. I don't recomend getting a car with many mods to begin with, as that's a sign the previous owner probably pounded the heck out of it.

You don't want a car that spent much of it's life at 7000 rpm
