Default Thinking of getting a prelude, please help!!

Well i got some really bad news...well i think it could be bad news about my Integra GSR yesterday. I believe my frame...well actually there is no frame, but the assend is bent, and a estimate for over a couple grand to get straightened. I really dont have the money, so im considering just selling it. But not positive yet i have things to figure out.

Im sorry for the questions becasue im sure they are "noob" questions. But Im comming from a integra GSR. I love the power, love the looks. Handles like a dream and the brakes are supurb to most other cars i drove. I was thinking prelude earlier but alot of people i talked to say they get poor gas mileage, are very heavy and dont handle as good as the integra. Now im pretty sure the h22 will be quicker than my b18 correct? Becasue i cant downgrade. I currently get about 25mpg in my integra. Is that around what i should get in the prelude?

The main reason im thinking if i need another car to not get another gsr is the insurance is a KILLER. On a perfect record i was paying $257 PER MONTH!!!! With state farm, now im at $187 with Gieco (sp) this is a 98 gsr. For a 97 or newer prelude what should i be looking at approx? And lastly is there any specific model prelude i should aim for? I want a 97+ for the headlight style.

You should be able to get a quick quote from your insurance agent for how much more or less any car will cost you, if they are helpful.

Use www.fueleconomy.gov for the best mileage assessment. Calculates your fuel cost per year and stuff. Really cool site.

The 5th gen has 190 or 200 hp I think and handles like a dream, but it is WAY heavier than your car. Like, 3,100 lbs-ish. Fifth-gen owners, step in here and correct my numbers, but that's like 400 or 500 lbs more than a GSR? However, the Prelude is nicer and it feels awesome to drive.

First, sorry to hear that you may have damaged your Integra in an accident...I lost my Integra in an accident and did what you're thinking about doing...buying a Prelude.

After owning my 99 Prelude now for 2 years, I think the Prelude is just as good or better than the Integra in most categories. The Prelude is definitely heavier and you will feel that weight, but it delivers a much more solid and refined feel to the driver. Stock for stock, the Prelude is the better car in my opinion. The only thing I miss about the Integra is the hatchback, I miss the versatility it offered.

As far as gas mileage, you should get around 25mpg. The Prelude is rated 22 city / 27 highway, so it's not going to be quite as good as the Integra, but it's still not bad.

I'm paying about 800-900 a year for insurance on my 1999 base Prelude with State Farm.

Well, hope this info helped and good luck finding a Prelude, I'm sure it won't let you down...I believe it was Car and Driver who summed the 5th gen Prelude up best, saying it is the best Integra that Honda ever made.

I get about 22mpg. About 300 miles per tank (13 gallons). Also about insurance its gonna vary by your record, area where you live. I was also looking at a GSR before I got my lude, and I think the prelude is better.

i had a 4th gen si. Loved the car. However, had to learn the hard way that u can't really drift with a heavy car. My lude ended up half total when i took a turn hard and oversteer at 50 miles an hour

Uhhhhhh.......You can't really drift a FF car, weight isn't much of a problem.

Go with the Lude, it may be heavier but it has more low end... I was trying to deicide between a GSR and a Lude and chose the Lude.
