500 hp ???????
i dont think you'd need more than 300 to stick it up with the big ol v8's at the strip....
those v8's sometimes weigh upwards of 4k lbs.... well more than your 2 in change.
i find 90% of the people who start out with your intentions never make it there. let alone ever start.
set a goal of 250 or somthing more realistic right now, then slowly build up.

To start stroke and bore that mofo to a 2.6L. If you want to go N/A get some 13:1 pistons and get the head shaved down about .080. That will put you near the 14:1 mark, beware you going to be needing to run Av-gas or and high octane gas mixed with some 93. Send the head off to a reputable engine builder and have to do the narlist port and poilsh job on it, install larger valves, and a 3 angle valve job. Get some H/d valve springs, Titanium retainers and shims, and a cam of your choice but make it good one, gotta go big if you want big HP. You can add nitrous, but I am a big disbeliever of nitrous, I like all motor. I dont know how much HP this will make that I listed above due to I'm new to the 4 cyl scene, but im pretty sure it will pump out plenty. I may completely wrong about all this but I'm sure somebody will correct me if im wrong.

you might be able to stroke a h22, but you can't really bore an h22 because there isn't enough wall thickness between cylinders.
plus daily driving a 14:1 car sounds like a headache.
IMO if you're a drag racer 500HP is excellent .. now for regular driving 500HP in a FWD is a waste ... get a used s2000 supercharge it .. in the end i'll be a little more expensive than the lude .. but i'll be fun fun fun!
