Preludes are sports cars...... they are sort of a Honda version of the Chevy Camaro Z28 (no direct comparisons, but the gist of the cars are the same). They may not be as rock solid reliable as an Accord (usually are, though), but for a sports car, they are SUPERIOR to competition in the price range and what the vehicle does. Cars that are driven hard (or want to be) will tend to wear out faster than cars driven for the family vacation. If it were a Camaro, you'd have far more serious problems than ignition switches and timming tensioners. Like leaking seals, gaskets, severe cowl shake, sagging headliner, peeling/fading paint, bad electrical, torn seat covers, hanging door trim, need I go on?
the interiors to domestics don't last either! all of my domestic friends just shake their heads when they have a 96 and their interior is falling apart and mine is still mint.. hehe..
most of my domestic friends say that if they modify their camaro.. they have to get rid of it before 100,000 miles for sure.. after a rebuild on our cars... heck.. turbo the thing
LOL..

I have a 1988 Prelude 2.0 SI. It has 266,000 miles on it. I bought it in 1998 for $2500. The only things that I have had to do is replace the PS pump and alternator. I have all the faith in the world in it. I just put $750 in the AC. I will expire before my Lude does. Lude ON!

* rear weheel bearings replaced
* timing belt tensioner problems
* shock knock
* transmission problem
All of these are fixed under honda's warranty (it's a certified), but it's still a hassle though. My car now has been in the shop for 2 weeks for tranny problem, and the parts is on backorder, and have to wait for another 2 weeks. So, I'm left here for about a month without a car. Btw, my car is a 99 lude type SH. Well, guess sometimes you can also have an unreliable honda.
