Default Prelude Chip??

I kno this has been discussed already but i jus wanted to get some more clarification....those chips on ebay that trick ur ecu into believin its suckin in colder air...the ecu compensates by throwin in some more gas...i kno it wont give me 20 hp, but i kno when i reset my ecu a month or so ago, the engine sounded alot better(since the original ecu settings throw in more fuel)...will this chip damage my engine at all....im basically goin for the sound difference but im sure i can get a couple hp

most of those chips will add tons of fuel all over the rpm range, mess with your timing, and most likely disable CEL's so you'll never know if somethings wrong. :nono:

those chips are worthless. adding more fuel makes less power, not more.

factory A/F is already rich over most of the powerband. as far as chips go with preludes, if it doesn't involve a dyno tune or road tune with a wideband o2 sensor, it's a scam.

Never ever buy a chip. A good idea though is to buy a factory ecu reprogramed or a new ecu altogether, they are expensive. 200,220$ and if your obd2 then you need a conversion harness for about 80

that's a little nebulous, 98, though you're not flat out wrong.

your options are:
piggy back - VAFC/Emanage, which basically manages A/F by altering the MAP signal to the ECU. can adjust VTEC x-over too. the emanage has more bells and whistles than a VAFC, but isn't quite as effective as the hondata in HOW it actually changes stuff like ignition and fuel trim.

hondata - which is also a piggyback, but offers you more control over tuning by giving you the ability to tune A/F and adjust timing, but you also have to switch over to an OBD I ecu to use hondata.

standalone - the most accessible is the AEM standalone, but there are others out there, that cost a lot more. but these are replacement ecu's that are completely tunable.

you forgot a hacked P28/P72 running uberdata/cuddle/turboedit.
also the least expensive way since all the software is free
