that's a little nebulous, 98, though you're not flat out wrong.

your options are:
piggy back - VAFC/Emanage, which basically manages A/F by altering the MAP signal to the ECU. can adjust VTEC x-over too. the emanage has more bells and whistles than a VAFC, but isn't quite as effective as the hondata in HOW it actually changes stuff like ignition and fuel trim.

hondata - which is also a piggyback, but offers you more control over tuning by giving you the ability to tune A/F and adjust timing, but you also have to switch over to an OBD I ecu to use hondata.

standalone - the most accessible is the AEM standalone, but there are others out there, that cost a lot more. but these are replacement ecu's that are completely tunable.
