60k service
I was just wondering what you guys paid for your 60k service.
I need to get it done soon. I called a couple of dealerships and got a whole range of prices 450- 289. I am assuming that they all do pretty similar stuff but I am not sure of the specifics. Also if anyone has had a good or bad experiance with any orange county dealerships please let me know.

60k service is good to do, but a waste of money at the same time. You really don't need your parking brake adjusted unless it's REALLY loose, you can do the coolant yourself for about an 8.00 bottle of Honda spec coolant (if you're not techically savy, take it to your garage and they'll probably do it for about 35.00), oil goes without saying, spark plugs don't need changed til 105,000 miles no matter what anyone says, you only need the valves adjusted when you replace the timming belt, and for certain you will NEVER need your brake fluid changed as long as you own the car (unless a major problem occurs with the brakes). In other words, its just a way for the dealer to make money because if you don't take the car there for the maintainance schedule, they'll never see you again after you buy the car!

are you serious about the brake fluid? I thought at least some stuff neeed to be done to the thing, lol But hey, not needing to spend money on that stuff is okay with me if it doesn't need to be done

Oh yeah, and about the oil changes.. is it really okay to do em every 7500 miles like hte book says?

When you never really need them. As for the oil, I do every 3,000 miles. That is one thing I don't skimp on, since the engine is high reving and if there is anything you can do to insure your car will last a long time, change oil and filter every 3,000. If you do it yourself, it costs you five bucks in oil and a 3.00 filter. No biggie.
The Honda dealer I worked for charged a ton for it. I never thought it was worth it although if you cant work on your car at all I would still recommend it. I have little mechanical ability but I could do everything but adjust my valves.
brake fluid will become corrosive over time, it will destroy the gaskets in you master cylinder. if you live in a place of high temp like down south it doesnt take long to reach brake fluids boiling point which lowers as the fluid gets old. i change mine every 60k with dot4 fluid, i can feel a difference in response and braking feel
