I think you should look for a 4th gen with a blown motor, then h22

I have heard that you cannot swap anything into the 3rd gens because of obd0,obd1, obd2 and other ecu related problems. The only thing that I know that you could swap into it is a B20 single cam out of the 3rd gen 2.0 si.

You're stuck with other 88-91 Prelude engines unless you want to do some serious work. Since you have a carb'ed car, anything fuel injected is going to require a total rework of the fuel system and engine electrical system.

I would also suggest getting a different car if you want to swap.

dude, im doing the same exact swap. You should go with the h22 like im doing. I have a 1997 lude sitting at my dads shop. The guy got into a car accident and like disowned the car, so im taking out the tranny, engine, wire harness and everything else i need and putting it in my 88 lude SI. You cant put a b18c head or b16 on yours because the block doesnt match up correctly on the b20 block. I think you would have to get a block out of a CRV in order for the head to fit.

it takes more work than it would to swap a b16 into a EG. you'll def have to do your hw to see if this is worth it, since i myself have no idea. I think the last carburated car i drove was an 81 cvcc, a few years back and i don't think i ever opened up the hood on that car.

but for starters, you'll prob need the engine, tranny, complete wiring harness, ECU, new fuel pump, and new engine mounts. You'd prob be best off with a DC2 front clip so you can scavenge some of the parts off of it. Then you'll want to know someone who can fab you stuff like mounts, then you'll want to get really good at reading wiring diagrams and pinouts.

I found a VERY helpful site for that swap (h22 into 3rd gen) a few monthes ago. The guy made it sound fairly easy, belive it or not. He made a list of everything he needed and bought and even the cost of each thing. The guy said he could keep up with his wife's Porshe. I remember him saying he used an Accord mount somewhere.

the b20/b21 in preludes is more of a h-series than a b-series if i understand correctly. it's not the same as the crv b20 either

I would recommend starting with a fuel injected lude to start with...the carb to fi swap is a big pain in itself, doubt you would want to go through that hassle and then swap to h22. placeracing.com sold the only motormounts for the swap but are rumored to have discontinued them, you'll have to find them in someone's innventory somewhere. a few websites have complete writeups for the 3rd gen h22 swap, preludepower.com and teaminterlude.com are the ones, I think.

Do like the RX7 owners and 240SX owners are doing and drop a small block in it. Im fed up trying to do the B18/H22 swap. Wish i could build the bottom end like a brick house and NOS the hell out of it lmao
