i agree that if it's meant to be manually shifted, it should. but other that, if you just drive it normally, you won't come across many problems with the SS tranny. i'd say it requires more maintenance than most other trannys out there but it's not as bad as everyone makes it out to be. personally, if i had a AT, i wouldn't even bother driving it fast. automatic preludes just aren't fast. i'd just cruise in it.

ok, shingo BB6 doesn't know what the hell he's talking about, the tiptronics are crap. You can check out the hundreds of complaints against Honda at the NTSB website, also there is currently a class-action suit against Honda regarding the failure of warranting the tranny due to their own crappy use of cheap components. I drive my car more carefully then anyone you would ever know, never sportshift it, and am own a second tranny after only 60K miles. On preludeonline.com, there is a thread at the top of the 5th gen page. There are guys on there who have had 2-3 tranny's swapped by honda, and they all fail. Never buy an automatic lude.

My auto, with an upgraded torque converter runs a 14.86, yes the engine is modded, but just having an auto, doesn't mean its slow, dude you're an idiot.

I have a 2000 lude with an auto stick and there is nothing wrong with it and I would put it up against any 5 speed. The only thing is when I let it drive it is a bit slower to change gears, when I drive it changes as fast as I can shift.
