I am using 225/45 and everyone told me they would rub.
only thing that rubs is the pass. side splash guard, which has been cut out and now I am just fine, with about a 1 in. drop on coilovers.

I was under the impression that 215/45-17 was equivalent in overall diameter to 205/50-16.

that half inch in increased diameter was definitely noticeable for me.

How much difference? Sometimes whene you change little things to your cars u actually expect to gain or lose hp. Sometimes its just in your head

it was pretty dramatic. i can't but a hp number to the difference, but if i had to guess it was about a 5whp difference.

45's will more than likely cause tire rub. i'd stick with the 40's.

I don't think the 205/40/17's have a high enough maxload rating. also that sidewall is pretty thin.
actually i think nitto makes a 225/40/17.
