Default Too much $$ for this prelude?

a local is selling a 97 Prelude with 35k miles on it and a few minor mods for $7200 OBO. He said he's real negotiable, but we'll see. The minor mods include GC's, some ICE, CAI and that's it. Is this a good price? The 35k miles seems really really fishy to me, but he said he carfaxed it and it all checked out. I thought wow, all good. And, it's EBP or Si Blue

But, there is a SALVAGE TITLE. This title was issued because the car was crashed in the rear, and completely fixed now. He is the second owner I believe.

Now, is this a good deal? This car is for my gf btw, not me. I am the proud owner of a CIVIC! Muahahahahha. But yeah, is this a good deal? I need some advice before the purchase. Thanks guys and gals.

I think it's a good deal...I'd take it to someone to put it on a lift and check it out but I'd buy it if it was ok

Just tell him you'd like to have a mechanic friend take a look at it. If he refuses, then something's definitly not right.

The salvage title hurts value, but if it was repaired properly there should be no prob.

think about when you are going to sell it. are you going to get $3500 in 5 years for the car? or can you still get 6-7000?

well the thing is, all cars decrease in value. And, now being 2004, a 97 is 7 years old. That's a pretty old car, honestly. I doubt that I'd be able to get 6 or 7 from it, but if the value of prelude's are still in high demand, then I'd get a little less than 6 or 7.

Yeah I know the salvage title hurts value a lot. Insurance will only give you half if it's totalled.

I haven't even looked at the car yet, but he tells me that its very clean. I need to go look at it though, just dont want to waste my time if its' too expensive, hence asking the forums first.

You're right, if he doesn't let me take it to a mechanic, something is definetely wrong with it. Hmm.. gotta see.

definetely. When I saw the 30000 miles on a 97. My eyes opened like crazy, and thought that there must have been mileage rollback or a cluster swap. I gotta check it out though, otherwise I would be sorry. Thanks for the heads up btw.
