Default Should a Civic come close.

I've got a 2000 prelude, completely stock. I just raced my friend who has a 97 vtec Civic. He beat me the first time because we did a running start, but I beat him twice on dead stops. But it did'nt feel like a beat him by that much( I grind and missed 3rd gear twice). Has anyone had any similar experience or is the Civic that powerful. Ithink it has only 118kw.

Thanks

lets talk in HP and TQ since im in @merica

what does this civic have done? im assuming a D16 of some sort, single cam POS. if your losing to him in a 5th gen u either cant race for shit...or your car has driveability issues (rich mixture, bad O2, low octane, only 3 cylinders, MIL code...) the list goes on.

i cant remember ever losing to a civic, ive raced low boost D series and beat them, juiced D's, full bolt on civics, including 99-00 b16a2 civic si's with bolt ons and never lost or had a problem putting them away.

lol actually i raced some dood on my commute home today in a EK body civic probably around 98, EX trim w/stick. absolutely roasted this guy, about 100 yards on him by 90, and he was still trying cause when i returned to 80 to cruise he came flying up on me. really embarassing for him, and the funny part is that he started reving at me to begin with. anyway im not "supposed" to talk about these things because its "illegal", and HAN wont host it anymore but i will so here is my vids link again for any disbelievers.

civics are sold by the thousands because of their fuel economy, and of course honda is as solid as you can get for the money. honda gave them tiny engines so they could get 20 to 30 to a gallon. sorry if I'm just saying the obvious,.,, a fast car can make you cocky tho. and theres always a better driver out there.

i have no problem with civics as cars. of course i despise ricers...but regardless of why honda put smaller engines in them (civics weigh ALOT less than ludes) the fact remains that i can still get excellent gas mileage on my h22a1 so long as i dont hit VTEC too much. its only an efficiency thing with D series, which btw have MUCH worse efficiency than a b16...speaking purely on the definition of efficiency (head design, etc...) of course. the b16 is a VERY well designed motor, but as far as fuel economy goes...the D series is a grocery getter IMO.
to the critics: yes any motor even a D series can be made fast with enough money and boost.

squee- any MILS? Soot on bumper? Change the O2 sensor?
im having a problem right now with my h22a1, its running rich like a pig, im working on it but it is a PITA to diagnose with no MILS...i can still take a 2001 Accord V6 though (as of yesterday at least).

I'm not lucky enough to get MILS. There is no soot on my bumper. I have never changed to o2 sensor. It runs much better before the engine is warmed up, or if the weather is cold. There used to be sporadic moments where it would run strong, they were far and few between, and no longer occur. I believe its fuel related. I Ordered 4 new injectors, broke one of them, been waiting 3 weeks for the replacement (it was back ordered) I plan to replace the fpr and fuel pump as well. If that doesn't fix my problem, its bye bye prelude.

If that doesnt do it, your EGR system is probably clogged, or atleast partially clogged.

driving is probably the cause. run him from 45 and drop it into 2nd a few times. your torque should ownnnnn. only civic that can run w/ a 5th gen lude are newer SI's. ive beaten a turbo civic EX by at least 2 cars.

97 lude, custom Intake and an exhaust.
