A/C Compressor might be going...not happy
Well after 16 years and 352,000 miles I think my A/C compressor is checking out. At idle, the compressor kicks in and has a horrible clicking sound. When you rev the engine it stops but returns as soon as you reach idle speed again. I can see bubbles and movement in the sight-glass and I'm positive there is plenty of freon. Its blowing warm air now too. It was converted to R134a last year and 2 weeks ago was starting to sling oil out around the clutch area onto my belts. The recharge can I used had a leak sealer and it actually did seal the leak but now this other problem has come up. If anybody wants to pass any thoughts or suggestions I'd appreciate it.
Honda wants about $600 for a new compressor and clutch assembly and they were fairly sure it is built for R12. I'm going to call around and see if a 96 or 97 compressor will directly bolt in or not. I'd prefer to find a compressor that was built for R134a because I'd hate to get another R12 and beat it to death with R134a freon.
Any and all insight appreciated.
