Default JDM v. USDM

Is there any other difference between the JDM H22 and the USDM H22 besides the different compression ratio. I want to turbo a H22 and was wondering if it would be better to get the USDM because it has the lower 10:1 ratio. Thanks.

Make sure you build the engine first,
or run real low psi until you build it, if you dont want to build it you may want to consider an h23

well, it is obviously better to have a lower compression when boosting. in your case, if you don't really know what you're doing, it might be safer for you to go with the h23 and turbo that. higher compression engines take a lot more tuning and work with a turbo. i would definitely suggest building the internals if you're going with the h22 (either one)

Even with an H23 you should build the internals if you plan on boosting more than 6psi on a daily driver.

The h22a1 is better for boosting because of the solid deck unlike the h22a4

No on was comparing A1 to A4, those are both USDM engines.

the jdm h22a was "CLOSED" deck just like the h22a1 (USDM version).
the h22a4 has its own strongs but yes it is an open deck.

if u are buying a motor and planning to turbo it...the single most inportant piece of advice i got for you is BUILD THE MOTOR BEFORE YOU SWAP.

you have to remember that building an engine is 10 times easier when its on a skid in front of your garage (engine stand is better).
the h22a/1 has FRM lined cylinders, i give your turbo h22 about 10k miles with no sleeves before oil consumption becomes a problem.

SLEEVE BLOCK
RODS/PISTONS
CAM GEARS (solves your VTEC overlap tuning issue)

easy, your done

thanks for the information guys. Boom, which sleeves do you suggest? I was going with the econo billet Crower rods and 9.0:1 Crower pistons and AEM cam gears. Thanks.
