Header install problems
Hey guys, i just took a stab at putting in my DC CC headers with no results.
I have a 97 SH, turns out the studs on the catalytic converter are rusted so bad that i cant see/feel the thread on them. Does anyone have any cool tricks to share with me? I've already tried the wrench and hammer... no luck with that....
I had another problem with the bolts that connect the A to B pipe... where the headers go from 4 to 2. Is there any other way besides using an extension to reach these bolts? I had to use a pretty long extension to reach up there from under the car, but i lost a lot of torque through the extension, so it was really difficult.

My bolts were rusted on my catalytic convertor also, and the way I took them off was by cutting them off. If you have a saw that will cut metal, then go that route, but make sure you have bolts to put in place of the old ones, and try to only cut the bolts and not the catalytic convertor to were you can't put new bolts back in....

either have them cut off, or use a ton of lubricating liquid wrench for a while.....Use a breaker bar, and it should come off pretty easily. But assuming from what you said that's kind of impossible my advice is to get them cut off, or, you can cut the cat out and replace with an aftermarket unit, you may also have to do some minor fix up on the end of the header (or if it's the stock one, who cares), and the end of your exhaust.

first off, its a header, not headers 
those are studs in the cat, (at least on the 4g), not bolts
the ends of the 3 cat studs are not threaded
they have a tapered end for aligning the exhaust pipe
i believe the nuts are 14mm and they are also rarely easy to get off
especially if they are from the factory
what you are gonna want to do is use alot of wd40, and a jimmi bar
so what the hell is a jimmi bar
well its a pipe of variable length and size tailored to suit your needs based on space requirements and torque requirments
i have several of them, different lengths and sizes for tight areas or all out mayhem
as far as the 3 bolts that connect the 2 pieces of the header, you can either drop the front crossmember by removing the front engine mount, radius rods, and the front/rear cross stiffener, or you can put three 6 inch entensions on the ratchet and deal with it.
note: it is possible to snap exhaust bolts
