Default thunder and lightning

Well you cant shoot thunder but I did capture some lightning during a storm earlier this month. I have no clue how to photograph such awesomeness so any tips would be appreciated. Feel free to post up your examples as well.

No real technique. Just set the shutter anywhere from 15-30 seconds, aim, fire, and pray for a lightning strike. I missed out on a lot of strikes when the camera was busy processing or the action was out of frame.

That's what I was always told. Set it to around 10-30 depending on ambient light. And pray for a strike.

Some people use two cameras to cover the processing time.

dam that is nice, may I ask what camera. I've always wondered how people was able to photograph that type of stuff, i always thought it was cool.

J, I was using a Nikon D70 with a 70-300. The first shot I might of been using the 18-50 with the screen door closed. :doh: :lmao:
