Why did the other thread get deleted Eric J? What's up bro, got something to hide? LOL. Anyways, im not sure what you posted in that other thread before it got deleted, but judging from your "I did nothing wrong" emails to me I can only imagine. First of all, any prospective buyer of the stuff this guy is selling, don't consider the items yours until you have been able to put the cash in his hands before someone else offers more. If you offer him an amount which he accepts, rest assured that if someone comes after you and offers, say, $15 more, he will then put you as the second option so if the other guy fakes, he will then honor your original agreement. Personally, I think this is a shady way of doing business online, I have completed a few transactions online and know that when the seller ok's an offer, that is a verbal contract between the seller and buyer that shouldn't be open to other offers from outside sources. I had a transaction with "WiLL" on this board where once we agreed on a price for the items, he held them for me as we had an agreement. I dind't have to say "hold the stuff for me", once a price was agreed on, the rest goes without saying, at least to people with honor and integrity. I bought my EX alloys from someone on the board too, forgot his name though, same thing. Once price was agreed upon, item was considered sold and held for me until the exchange could happen(I picked up rims, gave money at same time). My lowering springs, bought from someone on HS.com, again, same exact thing. As for my situation with Eric J, we agreed on a sell price(after a few lo-balls by me to see if I could get em for cheaperh: ), after agreeing on that, we talked about method of payment, and I requested the use of "c2it" which Eric J hadn't had an account with and promptly attempted to set one up. He encountered some problems in doing so and informed me via instant message that he ran into some problems, but would try again in the morning and would let me know when it was done. 2-3 days went by after that and I hadn't heard from him, the next time I heard from him, yesterday, he told me how he got his account set up, linked his debit card to it, but also said that he got an offer for $100 for the components I offered him $85 for(which he accepted), and said that if the other dude flakes on him, I would be next in line. :fawk: Im not the one to stand in line for your used stuff when we already had an agreement, especially when I can(and did) get brand new, higher model stuff for same price as you wanted for your used stuff. Sorry for the long post, just had to clear up the situation, say thanks to all the honest people out there who honor verbal agreements, and get this off my chest. I am waiting with anticipation the response from you Eric J, feel free.

lol, you have to be joking? Obviously I have nothing to hide or I wouldn't be posting on this forum. This was my last reply to your post, in which you refused to give me any answers to:

"Backed out of my word? Did I miss something? I told you I will sell the Polks to the highest offer on Monday. You said you would give me $85 plus shipping and pay via c2it.com. I said I don't have an account with c2it. I received a higher offer on Sunday and they were sold to the highest offer on Monday. You did not send me money, I did not say they were sold to you or that I would hold them for you. My ad says "or best offer", did you think I was going to hold them for you because you gave me an offer?
As I said in my e-mail to you - Show me where we had any kind of verbal agreement. Post your reply here if you'd like. I have a feeling I won't be receiving any response from you."
Your reply to this and my e-mail was that you didn't want to waste your precious time arguing with me. I guess that isn't the case now? If you want to say I went "back on my word" on a public forum, you'd better be able to back your accusations. The facts remain in my post I quoted above. If you want to argue them, I will post our entire IM conversation right here.

Obviously you haven't done many Internet transactions. People do not hold items for you just because you give them an offer. I told you, as clear as a bell, in our IM conversation: "I'm selling them to the highest offer on Monday, unless someone purchases them for my asking price before then." You did not purchase the components, therefor I sold them to the highest offer on Monday just like I said I would. What part of this don't you understand?

Again, show me where we had any kind of agreement in our IM conversation, and I will gladly admit fault. Until then you are just spewing out crap about someone you don't know. If you want to argue with me, then go ahead, I will make you look stupid.

Yes, that is what "best offer" means, what else would it mean? You take offers from people until a predetermined time, and then when that time comes you sell the item to the highest offer. If that person backs out of the transaction, then you sell the item to the next highest offer. Any time you see "best offer" in a classified ad this is how that person is selling the item, and everyone knows this. Why is this "or best offer" concept so hard for you to understand? This is basically the same way Ebay works. Do you think that is "shady" as well?

1.)I find it funny how the original thread was deleted. Doesn't really matter why, just make you wonder, I guess it's a timing thing.

2.) Let me be very clear about this, the only reason I felt the need to respond w/the facts about our IM conversation was because you posted something about it and ended the post with " I don't expect you to respond to this." As if I have something to hide or am wrong. The fact remains then as it does now, we agreed on a price for the sell, all that was left was for you to confirm w/me that your c2it account was set up and ready to go so I could send you the money. I mean, why else would you set up, or attempt to according to you, a c2it account(my preferred method of payment, which you didn't yet have an account with) if you hadn't intended on selling the speakers to me? I know im not going to set up any account for anyone or anything just because someone "gave me an offer" for something im selling. Beyond that, I didn't feel the need to further this disagreement as you had already sold the speakers and I had since bought a set of my own. I was hoping you'd see my intent not to further the discussion and let it go, didn't happen like that.

3.) Back em how? By posting the im conversation we had? Since you kept it, you can post it in it's entirety, I have no problem with that, just make sure you post it all, not just the parts you want to post. I, unfortunately didn't keep it, but I know what was said, not like we had a big long, drawn out conversation. Please post it.
What reason would I have to say this if it wasn't true? Because I wasn't able to buy your old, used components for the same amount it cost me to buy a set of newer, higher model components from the same manufacturer? Give me a break, you actually did me a favor, thanks. I just have a problem w/people who have no integrity and go back on their word for a couple dollars.

4.)Please post it, I would appreciate it. Post ALL OF IT, not just the parts that would seem to back up your false claim of us not making a deal.

5.) You are correct, I wouldn't consider 4 transactions w/private parties online "many", nor would I consider the 3 ebay transactions I have completed "many". However, all 7 times, I offered an amount of money the seller agreed with, upon which the items were considered sold. I got my ex alloys from "elgo" on this board, I gave my offer, he accepted it, he held them for me until I picked them up and paid for them. I got my baffles, rca's and free stickers from "WiLL" on this board(Good looking out on the stickers bro, gained a few hp), gave my offer, he accepted, held for me until payment rcvd. Every transaction was the same, all 7. Ours was a little different, I gave my offer, you didn't accept the first one, said you had rcvd higher offers already. Gave another offer, again didn't accept it, said you would wait until monday to see if anyone offered more or bought them for your asking price before then, I then responded with an offer that was for your asking price plus shipping, YOU DID NOT REFUSE THIS OFFER. You agreed and attempted to set up your c2it acct so payment could be transferred. That is where our problem is. YOU ACCEPTED MY OFFER, THEN ACCEPTED ANOTHER OFFER FOR $15 MORE, NEGATING MY OFFER. I am no idiot, I understand how bidding works. I also know what "obo" means. At the same time, I know that when you not only agree with and accept my offer, but also attempt to set up the means by which payment would be made, that consititutes a verbal agreement and you backed out of this one.

6.) Exactly, this statement was made after my second offer of $75. As soon as I got that message from you, I responded with an offer of your asking price plus shipping, did I not? You said ok, and went to set up your acct w/c2it so I could pay you, since that was my preferred method of payment. Did you not?

7.)I wish I could show you, but as I do all other im's that aren't needed(at least I "think" aren't needed), they got deleted. So since you have them, please post them w/o any edits and let's see who's wrong.

In the example: $250 obo

The asking price is $250, the first one to offer that to the seller(unless informed that this is an open bid) gets the item(s) for sale. If people make offers, and the highest offer was $200, then that would be considered the "best offer". If you were truly going to sell the speakers in your "bidding" style you claim, why did you not give me the opprotunity to outbid the other person? Problem here is that you seen $$$ and lost all touch w/reality. You were very aware of how interested I was in the speakers from our im's, at the very least you could have said "hey, I got a higher offer from someone else, can you beat it?" Nope, you said "hey, I sold them to someone else, well, kinda, he hasn't paid me yet, it's a 50/50 chance, but he offered me $100, if he backs out, I'll sell them to you." Considering we agreed on the sell already, this wasn't acceptable. That is what I consider shady, any part of that you don't understand?

We could argue for weeks and we wouldn't get anywhere, because you are arguing your opinions against facts. Your complaints are entirely based on your assumptions below:

This is your opinion, not a fact:> You think because I say I'm going to try to set up an account to receive payment from you, I am giving you my word or verbally agreeing that the item is sold to you and I'm going to hold it for you.
(even though I told you before hand that I would sell the item to the highest offer on Monday if you did not purchase it)

This is your opinion, not a fact:> You think I am "shady" because I did not hold the item for you after you offered my asking price. (when I told you before hand that I would sell the item to the highest offer on Monday if you did not purchase it for my asking price)

These opinions are the basis of you complaint against me. If you are going to come on this forum and accuse me of lying to you or "backing out of my word", then you better have the facts to back it up or your complaint doesn't hold any weight. If you cannot do so, then you need to retract your comments. Your opinions mean nothing. Don't bother responding to this post unless you can show that I in fact lied to you.

Whether I'm asking a price and selling an item outright, or I'm taking offers on an item, that item is still considered for sale unless A: payment is received. B: I Agree to hold the item for someone for whatever reason (mailing a check etc.). C: I stop taking offers at my predetermined time (which I tell to anyone who has made an offer), and hold the item for the person who gave me the highest offer. This is the way nearly all experienced sellers sell their items. You can not automatically expect the item to be sold to you or held for you unless you have purchased the item, or the seller tells you the item is being held for you (or agrees to do so).

I tried to set up an account with c2it because you said it would only take a few minutes. I linked my debit card on Sunday morning, which only allows me to send funds. I found out it was going to take 3-4 days to link my bank account so I could receive funds. It's not my problem you couldn't send payment in a method that I can accept.

The only possible verbal agreement we may have had was that I would sell you the components if you could send me payment, or if nobody offered more for them by Monday morning. And I did not breach this agreement in any way.

I told you before you gave me your offer: "I'm selling them to the highest offer on Monday, unless someone purchases them for my asking price before then." If you had a problem with the way I was selling my item, then why didn't you say something then, and why did you give me your offer? Don't come here crying about how you think I should have sold my item. You neglected to read and/or consider the terms of my sale, so you have nothing to complain about.

I'm waiting to hear some facts from you, and please don't drone on again with more of your opinions that you think are written in stone.

Since you are so right, why don't you post the whole im conversation as you said you would? Please? All you can base your argument on is the fact that I can't post the im conversation, which would clearly show who's right, due to me deleting it as I thought it wouldn't be necessary to hold on to. Like they say, hindsight is always 20/20:doh: Im crying?:nono: This situation allowed me to explore other options which ended up with me buying a brand new set of Polk Audio EX II 6 1/2" components for $99, whereas your components were a lower model and used, and no telling how old considering a search of the model you provided turned up hardly anything, and no pictures or specs, must be kinda old. It is this going back and forth and going absolutely nowhere that made me respond to your email "Im not going to waste my time". Again bro, it's all good, you got your money, I got my components, brand new, didn't have to wait for them to arrive via ups, and they are better than what you were selling, you did me a favor, thanks man, I appreciate it It's water under the bridge, I lost no sleep over it.
