In the last two weeks, I had 5 people come by my house to canvas for Obama. Over the course of the year, since the primaries/caucuses, I've gotten probably a dozen phone calls from supporters. None of these people were paid. Same story with the CO caucus... unprecedented numbers came to support Obama even when it looked like he was losing and before he had started raking in the big money. I think I got one robo-call from Bob Shaffer, that's it.

Yes, TV stations like to sack-ride Obama (just as fox sack-rode McCain), :edit: but my experience indicates to me that grassroots participation had a profound affect on the outcome. Though the money didn't hurt h:
