Would you ask a plumber to...
Just a few points:
1) The fact they cut it before he finished his sentence leads me to believe there was a suitable or at least more palatable explanation that followed, but was not shown because it would decrease the incendiary value of his comment.
2) I have no problem with Obama's tax proposal because A)It doesn't affect me or 95% of you guys either B)although I don't necessarily believe in tax cuts as a means of economic stimulus (fat lot of good it did the country this summer), the plan provides a little relief for the majority of Americans C)Tax revenues are vital to the future of our country, and if we can squeeze a little more from that 5%, so be it. I'm not sympathetic. In case you haven't noticed, we've just assumed another trillion dollars in deficit over the last couple weeks. Lowering taxes across the board is fiscally irresponsible and guarantees major problems down the road.
3) There is an element of socialism in most of the wealthiest, healthiest and best educated countries in the world. If you think it's un-American, that is a matter of opinion or ideology, not a matter of law. Do you think England, Sweden, France, Canada, Germany, Japan (the list goes on) are pinko commies? Of course not. The spectrum of pure capitalist to pure communist is a gradual one, and IMO, either extreme is unrealistic. Successful countries fall somewhere in the middle.
