So Obama was in town last night v. manwithgunarrested
I am all for gun rights...but the dude was just asking for it :uhhok: Any other public rally with regular civialiansand there wouldnt be any hassle. But this was for a presidential candidate. Like it or not, not everyones rights are equal.

I dont know about PA, but in WI, according to the law it is perfectly legal to open carry, but LEO's wont allow you to do it anyways because it is a threat to the general public. I'm willing to bet it is the same in PA, and the actions taken by the police were normal protocol, and I doubt that it was done just because Obama was in town.
This man was no threat to the canidate, if he was, he would have been a sniper, and been there ... maybe.. When Obama was there?!?!
He has carried his gun legally for years. The thought that gun owners are criminals is insane. He's an american, and he has the same rights me, you, or obama has.
I hope he sues the people who defiled his rights, wins, and that it is national news.
Call me a right wing nut, but i think those things in the constitution matter. That's just me.

If a state has in their constitution that a person is allowed to open carry there is no legal way to enforce otherwise except in public buildings such as a courthouse, school or other state admin buildings. This means if you are legal to own a gun and carry it on your person in plain view of others you are abiding by the laws set forth by your state and if you are arrested under the reasoning that carrying that weapon is illegal in some manner you are under false arrest and there is recourse for this.

Hehe. Wish it was that easy man. I didnt really read the article. I just made my comment based on the comments here and my assumption that the guy was open carrying during a rally where Obama was present.
Maybe I should have picked my words better...but circumstance change when there is a high profile person involved. :dunno:

OK so doing a little checking into what states allow open carry and restrictions and of course the Wiki came up but the map and explanation is helpful
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Open_carry
so it appears that PA is an Anomalous open carry state which means there are some restrictions in place for various reasons.
I would think this man had researched those restrictions before pulling this stunt and if not he is a moron doing more harm than good in this case.

in plain sight with no license except in vehicles*, cities of
the first class** (Philadelphia) and where prohibited specifically
by statute.
