If that worked for criminals, we could all have one of these.

very true criminals will do as they please, but when you allow everyone else to carry a gun to protect themselves what makes you think they will have the control to not go flashing it around at anyone that doesnt let them have their way.

I've seen crime stats and something like 1/10 of 1% of permit holders have had their permits revoked and something like single digits percentages of them are because of violent crimes or firearms related things.

This is the only stat I could find that was readily available.

Permit holders are a remarkably law-abiding subclass of the population. Florida, which has issued over 1,346,000 permits in twenty years, has revoked only 165 for a "crime after licensure involving a firearm," and fewer than 4200 permits for any reason. [46]

i can agree with that and that is fine, currently people with permits are responsible with their guns, they dont want to lose their permits, do recreactional things with it in supervised/responsible manners, i get it, that is fine. not going to argue that point as i do understand when people enjoy hobbies they would like to do it when/where ever they would like to and not purposely try to harm anyone.

if the rules on letting everyone have guns when/where they please that stat might look a little different. like everything else, not everyone thinks the same way you do and there for just because the han gun crew is responsible with their firearms doesnt mean everyone else is/will be.

sure we will probably never know if this will be true, but i sure dont feel comfortable with some of my neighbors owning guns and walking around with them all the time

If someone wants to kill you, they're going to do it whether they have a gun or not.
If someone has a gun, it's only going to kill you if they want it to.

What makes you fear inanimate objects? Should we stop people from driving cars because they can run people down? Should we stop people from using matches because they can start forest fires?

its not fear of the object, it is fear of the person weilding that object. sure if someone wants to kill you they will, but it makes it worse when it is someone that just feels like killing you at least you know why killer wanted to kill you. i mean walking down the street, looking at someone thinking "is this guy going to kill me, mayb i should kill him first" that seems like fun

as for cars you cant really take a car into a mall and just start running people down (well wait, mayb you can, but your car might not do such a good job after you crash through the doors and stuff) using a car to kill people will probably be more efficient in terms of the numbers killed but you cant exactly just run away after you are done.

like i said before i have no problem with you owning a gun or using it recreationally but you your decision envolves others non-volunteerily (sp) (like the guy in the article) you just cause unecessary issues

That's the point. His decision did not affect anyone involuntarily. It affected him and only him unless there was an unwarranted fear of that inanimate object.

Don't get me wrong, I don't disagree that some people fear guns. However, I don't think people should be stopped from carrying because of other people's fears.

I like how irrational people get in these types of arguments.

and spank you should create a gun forum so that all you can talk about is how guns are great.

oh wait...

How's this for irrational; Stay the fuck out of the thread unless you feel like you can provide some valid statements.
