Maybe he went looking to shock some hippies going to the rally by open carrying, and is now acting surprised when he did.

I got some looks when I was moving, and had to carry my rifle to my car from my old apt. Maybe it was my appearance, I dunno, but you'd think around here people wouldn't think anything of a rifle... yet people do take notice. As would I in that situation, probably... pretty much unless you are wearing hunting gear (and have the appropriate type of weapon/tool) people are going to react with concern to seeing someone carrying a gun unless it's a cop, etc.
In my experience.

edit: doesn't me they/we are judging of course, it's just natural unless you know the person or are constantly exposed to it.

They had no good reason to detain him. There are rules set forth, and he was following them.
Interesting... Believe me, Bible, gun and apple carrying rights advocates aren't the only law abiding people whose rights are violated. But I'd be willing to bet that such people would be the last to make a fuss about others who've also have their rights trampled on. In fact, on this site, they even like to compare blacks with neanderthals.

True, but add a Bible and I'm getting scurred :ugh: :chuckle: And an apple? Nobody eats apples, that proves he's crazy.

I'll agree with that. They should have escorted him out instead of detaining him.

I think what he proved is that we need to update the law to state you can't have firearms at campaign rallies. Hasn't anyone seen The Dead Zone?

Just realized that I didn't point out that I too don't feel he should have been arrested, unless he resisted being escorted out, etc. or was in some way belligerent.

Non-violent protest.
Jesus jump to conclusions. You can non-violently protest without carrying a firearm is what I'm saying. Yes I understand the point he was making, but hey maybe he should have looked at the totality of the circumstances in this situation. I'm all for what he believes, and I would fight and die for his right to bear arms but like I said, there's a time and a place for such actions. I don't agree that that was the best time and place for such action though however best of luck to the guy. Anyways John cite some information, about not being able to carry at a State Park, not sure if McIntosh park is a state park though. Anyways, I'm all for his gun rights, only if legally expressed.

again ... if he had been carrying in an illegal local then they would have charged him with way more than disorderly conduct .... the fact that he was only charged with that says simply enough he was not carrying somewhere where it was illegal
