he does this technique called "dry brushing". It's dipping your brush in paint, then removing almost all paint from it, before applying on the toy.

It gives a weathered look in the direction you stroke in.

wow...did u build models too? i did the dry brushing method on my AT-AT model like 10 years ago. its awesome for weathering effects.

i dry brushed the thousand or so warhammer 40k models i have. dry brushing makes a night and day difference. it also adds some nice detail.

The new animated Transformers show looks like garbage.

Of course that's what I originally thought about Cybertron.

I don't care what the cartoon looks like, that Grimlock is amazing. I really like the cartoon like build with exaggerated features.
