I don't care which way you lean, if you're an Amercan you should think that that wasn't a cool thing to say. At all.

He is not the only one.

I would not take it personally. He has yet to show much intelligence, so his words carry very little weight.

I wasn't a big Clinton fan at all but if a foreign leader had said that about him when he was the sitting President I would have been pissed. Respect the office, not necessarily the man.

And I do not disagree with you. However, the guy is an idiot, so it just makes me chuckle.

President Bush's speach was a good one on spreading democracy in the Middle East and helping those that do.

Chavez is just a plain idiot who like Iran would be nothing without oil.

Can't believe I'm saying this but I agree w/ you fully. It was completely uncalled for. I understand his reasoning behind not liking or agreeing with this US administration, but he went about it all wrong and only made himself look less credible and less serious. IMO, this will hurt him gravely in his persuit for a seat in the UN. I would like him to preserve a seat, and his comments will only hurt his ambition.

But they do have oil. They are super powers that influence the rest of the world. We need to listen to them and speak with them. We need to discuss our disagreements and come up with a plan that can better both worlds. This has yet to be done.

Chavez is a court jester. He is allowed to exist only for the amusement of others.

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is a different story entirely.

"Mr. Ahmadinejad’s habit of answering every question about Iranian policy with a question about American policy was clearly wearing on some of the members, but at the end they acknowledged that he was about as skillful an interlocutor as they had ever encountered. “He is a master of counterpunch, deception, circumlocution,’’ Mr. Scowcroft said, shaking his head. Mr. Blackwill emerged from the conversation wondering how the United States would ever be able to negotiate with this Iranian government.

“If this man represents the prevailing government opinion in Tehran, we are heading for a massive confrontation with Iran,” he said."
