Question Help looking for 1st car

Hi everyone, I just got my license and am looking for a car such as a Honda or Toyota for my first car. FIrst off i want to let you all know I am one of those people who know some stuff about cars. such as oil changes and other things like that. I want a car that is going to last me awhile as well as performance. I am more into durability than performance right now. I have been looking at the 2000 preludes and i really like the 1999 accord. Can anyone else recommend me a vehicle (preferably one with a lot of aftermarket customizations). As far as budget goes were talking 10K tops. So if anyone can help me out here that would be great.

2000 Prelude
+ legendary motor, the H22
+ timeless styling

- large I4 drinks gas
- loads of weight
- high insurance on the Type-S
- Auto-stick gear box was garbage

1999 Accord (I4)
+ lots of space
+ high quality
+ lots of parts
+ good on gas

- low amounts of torque
- low amount of HP potential

1999 Accord (V6)
+ good power in the upper RPM range (very noticable over I4 model)

- parts are a bit more expensive
- automatic transmission only

Also, with the Accords, go for a 2000 model.

If you purchase a V6 2000 though a Honda dealer, the drive train is guaranteed for 7 years or 100,000 miles. (from the mfg date, not ownership date) The 98-02 Accords have documented cases of transmission failure. Although it only effects a few, it's best to stay covered.

The 2000 model features newer colors being used by Honda. In 1999, Honda used a "regent" silver ... a purpleish dark grey. In 2000, Honda used a "satin" silver, which is the best silver offered by all car mfgs.

I think he was talking about the "manu-matic" in the prelude. The standard manual transmission should be solid though.

Used RSX and RSX Type-S (with high mileage) can be had for around $10k these days, and they're far superior to both the Prelude and Accord in terms of handling, power, potential and looks IMO.

a first car?

get a car that is no younger than 10 years old, trust you'll be out of it in a few months, but it allows you to get your bearings in something you dont care about.

i recommend a honda accord or toyota camry.

it'll get stolen for the engine.

honestly, get a large car-- your insurnace will be down and you also wont care about it at all. a 2000 IMHO is too new for a new driver, get a beater, you'll have fun knocking the piss out of it.

i suggest a 2000 civic ex
you can find one for under 10k and it should last you until you are older and ready to afford a better car
