if u managed to get "kazaa lite" back in the day before they charged for it, your account is still active, limewire is still available, there are still several forums and online sites dedicated to free music, i think the age is just slowly starting over and soon enuff it will fully take over, i prefer to buy all my music, but i have nothing against downloading, i just like having the cd case

I'll be surprised if they ever are able to shut down Torrents. The way the program is set up makes it impossible for the authorities to ever satisfy the appropriate legal standard to ever charge anyone with a crime.

I don't think they'll be able to get all torrents. There will always be sites out there, undercover that still thrive. P2P programs I think will be going out. I've never used them, too risky(Viruses, getting caught), not many people out there for somethings, unorganized, etc. I have used myTunes, but thats different.

I rarely use public torrent sites because, again, too risky. I don't want to get caught so now I've switched to private sites.

torrents are P2P last time i checked, IIRC it's just a checksum value that is attached to a placeholder file, so you know the file you are getting is the one you want

i used to do this with my friends and kazaa, and i never quite understood why other people ever switched to using torrents because of the hassle they can cause...

Torrents are different than a P2P program like Kazaa because you don't download the entire file from any one person. By only receiving a portion of the data from one person there is no way that the RIAA, etc. could show that you did anything wrong. The most they could prove is that they downloaded a series of zeros and ones from your IP address and then they put those together with others to form a file. Its too suspicious and self-serving to serve as sufficient evidence.
