yes, the shapes are similar, as you said, they share a wedge-type of overall shape. but the designs are very distinctive and unique. what i think is that toyota rips off a lot of designs in a lot of their cars, and i think they did the same thing with that supra concept.

The MR2 is not competing with the TT, Z4, Z8, or SLK. All those cars are at LEAST $10k more than this car. The MR2 is only around $21k. Those cars are also alot more heavier than this car as well.
People who want a good autoX car. I mean 2100lb is 300-400lb lighter than the miata to start with. If you pop the Celica GT-S engine in there and add some mod, you're looking at a 13 second car easily. So what are you complaining about? The look is subjective. I wouldn't mind driving it if someone gave it to me or if i'm shopping for that type of car.

my original point when i replied to the translation of that webpage, was that toyota doesn't consider the MR2-spyder a sports car, and neither do i. maybe the information on that site was taken out of context, or mis-interpreted. maybe it was just speculative. either way, i still don't consider the current MR2 a sports car whatsoever, and that is all i'm saying. the old turbo MR2 was a great car - that is what i'd rather see.

Whatever we're way off the topic. Both pictures are nothing more than sketches of old rumors that probably have little prospect of making it to production as anything even remotely resembling them.
