anyways,

ok, how many ripped off designs can you count in this car?

the second one... eh, looks okay for now. i hate the front grille/headlight setup with a passion, but we need to see the rest of the design and from more angles...

there's nothing that i can see so far that evokes the same kind of power that the previous supra design did.. they don't look like super cars.. the first one might, but its such a rip off that i just don't care.
I like the MR-2 for what it is too. It wasn't meant for competing with cars like 350z, but it's doing just fine against the miata.

I really like the picture of the supra. If anything, I say it's evolutionary from the last one with merging of design from their current cars. The lights looks like it was modified from the Celica. If you think it's such a copy, then list the section you think they copy from and from what car... Overall, I would rather get this car than the 350Z if it performs the same.

the one in the picture is the Super car version and estimated price if $150K It doesn't compete with the 350Z. The second one does.

Oh, ic. I thought the first picture was an update. Then I really don't like the front end design of that thing. However, the general body shape looks very agressive.

i hate the current mr2 because its ugly as hell, and desperately underpowered. MR configurations kick ass, sure, but what good is it without any horsepower?

in the first design, i can see an obvious draw from italian style supercars, such as lamborghinis or bugattis. the shape, lines and profile are VERY similar

the headlights looks very much like the NSX concept pics we've seen, but for some reason i can't find the thread. something like this:

Those Supra pics are really old - I wouldn't be surprised that Toyota Supra is going to look NOTHING like those. I posted an article and jaje posted a pic from Motortrend.

Ugly, yes.

Underpowered, not really. It weighs 2100 lbs so 140 hp is plenty. It's not supposed to be lightning-quick in a straight line, and I wouldn't want to be going 160 mph in something that small and unaerodynamic anyways. It's a go kart. Just for comparison purposes: if the MR2 spyder had the Celica GT-S motor then it would have an identical power-to-weight ratio of an S2000.

In that case, then the NSX will be a copy of those italian design too. That would make every supercars be a copy of the original supercar. What do you expect? There's only so much you can do to the shape before it gets less aerodynamic. There is a reason why they all look similar, because that shape (wedge) has been proven to be the most aerodynamic. The lights looks like the other toyota's lights.

need more example?

even the shape looks like a lowered wider celica.

i can see what you're saying. but i still think the design is very much ripped off of other cars' design elements. toyota is known to do this anyways, so what more evidence do you need? you may be right about the general shape of a 'supercar' type of vehicle. but there is so much they can do with the design to set it apart from other cars, and i just don't see them doing that in this concept.

who wants an ugly, unaerodynamic go kart?
if you put clear tails on that thing you wouldn't be able to tell the front from the back. the previous MR2 was a great car, and i am extremely disappointed with the mr2 spyder. it puts a stain on the mr2 name

besides that, what about the new 6 cyl TT, the Z4, Z8, or the upcoming SLK replacement? there are plenty of cars that size that have WAY more power, and are also *slightly* more aerodynamic.

otherwise, i can understand if it was meant to be nothing more than a miata fighter. i don't agree with it, and still think its pathetic, but i would understand it. does anyone know how mr2 spyder sales are compared to the miata?

I don't get your comment here. You agree with me that general shape of all supercars are similar, then what's your point? I don't see another car that look exactly like it. I see alot of cars that look similar.

People who want a good autoX car. I mean 2100lb is 300-400lb lighter than the miata to start with. If you pop the Celica GT-S engine in there and add some mod, you're looking at a 13 second car easily. So what are you complaining about? The look is subjective. I wouldn't mind driving it if someone gave it to me or if i'm shopping for that type of car.

The MR2 is not competing with the TT, Z4, Z8, or SLK. All those cars are at LEAST $10k more than this car. The MR2 is only around $21k. Those cars are also alot more heavier than this car as well.
