-2004 BMW 5-Series Exposed-
I :dunno: but I am not too impressed with BMW's new style direction...first was the redesigned 3 series front with much uglier headlights. Then came the 7 series which is actually better than the previous but nothin special, and now the 5 series which looks completely fuglier than its predecessor and a mini version of the 7. WTF? I think the style of the previous 5 series especially M5 can't be beat, at least with that...
the design of the back is the only thing that is okay about this car. the front honestly looks like a pontiac. i really hate the curves and creases in sheet metal that is being used in the new BMW designs - the cars lose so much sleekness in this way. the car also has a fin on the back. wtf is that, an antenna? could they possibly have made it into something that didn't look like it came off of a fish?
the interior remains the worst part, imo. it is ugly along with the rest of the car. the design just does not make any sense, lines flow randomly, run into each other where they shouldn't. and once again, from the pictures it looks like a lot of the plastic is of very cheap quality
change should be embraced, sure. but not if the change is the fcuking ugliest thing the company has ever concieved.

BMW has completely lost the plot. Put that new model next to an E34 5-series and you'll see what I'm talking about.
Chris Bangle is a liablity for BMW; and it disgusts me to see people buy his bullshit about "challenging people" with his design "vocabulary"..

Take a look at the nav screen in a G35 sedan or new A8 [which retract into the dash], both are simple to use and elegant in design. The BMW system is embarrasingly crude in execution.
Good design is based on functionality and balanced, comprehensible forms, not fads and controversy.

The more I see this car, the more I love it. I think this is a beautiful design.
It's weird... I always thought BMWs were overrated and everyone liked them because everyone else liked them (ie, the yuppie effect), but I definately can't wait to look at one of these.

fugly inside and out. My favorite is still the 2001 750iL - crisp, clean, refined, beautiful. The new 7 series is decent just because it is so high class, which cant be said about the monsterous 5 series. ew.
I'm going to have to hold judgement until I see one in person...the current 7-Series is much more flattering in person than it is in pictures.
That said, give me a 2001 740i Sport.
