I can see why one would prefer it without the spoiler. A dealer installed accessory option would have been more logical. I would not doubt there would be more than a handfull of people who would want this car without the spoiler.

Those all look pretty damn close. While I know the vehicles were differentiated, most of the body remained the same (quarter panels, fenders, and doors). How can the wheelbase be extended without requiring a body change?
you question me ?
yes the chassis originated from the GM2800 RWD used on the omega / catera... but like other people said, the holden one is wider , longer, and stronger chassis, the suspension has been revised, and nearly 99% of parts and body panels are NOT interchangable between the two.
here is an older '99 model holden, you can see the similarities, also how much bigger the holden is.

HAN members know their s!i+! I have yet to drive the new GTO, local Pontiac dealers are currently taking orders, but none available for display. I did get a brochure, however. I am very impressed with the car as a whole. Glad to hear that GM has improved on the already great LS1 engine, and I can finally get a well made vehicle to go along with it
I've got 50,000 miles on the Trans Am, have had NO reliability issues with the LS1 whatsoever. Since my Accord has over 100,000 miles and is closing in on 8 years old...I am currently shopping for my 'next car' Both the GTO and new Acura TL are looking tempting, the hard part will be deciding which direction I want to take.

On another note, anyone get December's issue of C&D yet? Of course, they test the GTO, but I was dissapointed in their critique.... they seem to yearn for the overcladded, plasticated monstrocities Pontiac used to sell. They were very down on the simple design of the GTO. I happen to love it. Mabe it's too simple, but simple ages well. Not to mention, I'd rather have a car that doesn't scream "look at me!" anyway. Other than that, I think they liked the car. If any of you read the article, share your thoughts please.

I agree man...they spent way too much time criticising the design. It was really irritating. It seemed thatthey loved every other thing (except for minor quibbles), though

wow I am suprised. It is good to see that an american car other than the vette will start to give buyers some excitement. The true test will be the way it holds up. If it is a typical GM product wthin 3 years they will be falling apart
