2004 Infiniti FX45 (sport wagon)
One of the Car & Driver staff agreed to this, but I think that the FX45 does share some styling details of the dearly departed (at least to me) BMW M Coupe.
Impressive performance for an SUV, but it compromises on it's utiliy (small cargo area). In such an application, I rather buy a 350Z, save a few bucks it cost to make this thing so high performance, and buy a Pathfinder and spend a total of an extra $20K to get the best of both worlds.
I also find it funny that during prototype testing they taped all the badges up so nobody would know it was an Infiniti. Anybody who is anybody could have looked inside, spotted the signature clock - it would have been a dead giveaway.

I am sure Benz and BMW dont like the FX45 being faster and cheaper than their cars so they probably will increase performance and increase price just a little.
Imagine if this SUV had the whole Q45 engine in it. I think they left out the titanium valve train parts for cheaper ones. I like this SUV the best out of all of them. My dad just purchased a 2002 Explorer Limited as a company vehicle and boy does it handle like ****. And it has been back to the dealership three times for the airbag light, but the RL has been in for side airbag light three times too.

I don't think the "full Q45" engine would make a big difference, for most of those 340HP are make believe.
