New Supra
Can any one tell me if Toyota is gonna come out with a new Supra any time soon
i mean they just have to cause Nissan and Mazda got new remake versions of the sports cars they discontinued here(U.S.) unless they don't feel like competing
and when the fuuuck is Mitsubishi gonna make a new 3000GT
They left us hanging since like 97 i was 17 then and i was so disappointed that they stopped making the Supra not like a was gonna get one but you feel me right?

We've heard bits and pieces...rumor has it that it'll be 30-45 grand and have a turbo version of the 3.0L I6 in the IS300 or maybe even a V8/Turbo V8. We talked about it awhile ago, maybe someone has more solid info? But supposedly it'll come out 2004-2005.
We don't need the 3000GT. Everything except the VR4 was slow compared to what you can get now for that money, and they weighed like 3800 lbs.

im sure it wont have the engine from the IS300 cause that engine came from the late model supra! i mean, i guess they could use it, but it would be pretty redundant. anyways, i cant wait for it to come out. im looking forward to it more than any other car right now.
Supra N/A = 2JZ-GE
Any Lexus with an I-6 = 2JZ-GE
Supra TT = 2JZ-GTE
I think Toyota would take the opportunity to showcase a new motor in the Supra. Plus to compete with the Z I would imagine they would go with a larger normally-aspirated engine rather than a turbo. The Supra and Z have always been pretty similar in specification although the Z did switch from I-6's to V6's when the first 300ZX came out. Of course Nissan has totally abandoned the I-6 now, even the new Skylines have V6's. Pretty much any six-cylinder Toyota with sporting aspirations is an inline configuration so my guess is that IF a new Supra comes out then it will remain an inline six.

That sucks, cuz my favorite (resonable, not like twin turbo V12) engine is a tubro Inline-6.
These quotes may be common knowledge, but I thought they were interesting.
Quoted from a Celica site: "Rumors are now begining to swirl madly about a 2004 (actual late-2003 release) model year Supra. Preliminary specs include either a 3.5L V-6 with 325HP in the high trim, and a 2.5 L V-6 in the lower trim. Other sources have the 2004 Supra coming with a 4.5L V-8 in the upper trim and the 3.5L V-6 in the base trim. Expect the Supra to arrive as a direct competitor to the 350Z. Pricing and power should be very similar so it should hopefully be a little more affordable than the past Supra."
"The 2004 Supra would be smaller and more driver-focused than the model last seen here in 1998. Expect a 350-horsepower, 3.5-liter V6 that will belong to a new family of Toyota V6 engines, top versions of which will employ a variable valve timing and lift device similar to BMW's Valvetronic system. The new Supra could share platforms and parts with the next Lexus IS300, also due in 2004." -Automobile, August 2002
I wonder how much it will look like these pics:
