Default 2008 Lexus IS-F 500 spy shots

No sooner than Lexus "announced" (sort of) that they will be branding their performance lineup as F, Edmunds has a video up and some potential new info about the car they are now calling the IS-F 500. Supposedly it's going to use the 5.0 liter V8 from the LS460h but without the hybrid gear, tuned by Yamaha to 425 hp.

From Edmunds:
A reworked version of the new Lexus eight-speed transmission will handle the shift duties while a set of Brembo brakes will bring the IS-F to a stop.
Great. I'm sure the eight speed is wonderful as far as automatics go, but when will Lexus learn that enthusiasts want the option of a manual transmission?

Ok, aside from that being an obvious photoshop, where did you get it?

If you did the photoshopping yourself, say "this is a Photoshop I did."

If you found this picture elsewhere and are re-hosting it, say where you got the picture from.

Thank you.

::sigh:: eight speed automatic? For true, Toyota?

I'm not interested anymore.

I mean... I really like the new IS. I like the interior, I love the way they drive... they even offer the two options I want - a real manual tranny (F1/SMG/DSG may be faster but they're not the same) and AWD, but they're only offered on the lowest model and they're not even offered together. Back to lusting after European models for me, I guess.

I do, for one.

To be fair, I'm not interested in buying an IS-F, regardless of options. There is no way I'd pay $50K for any car. There are far too many things to do with my money that are far more constructive than spending that kind of dough on a car.

Still, if I purchase a performance car, I want it to have a manual transmission. Manuals are more engaging, and therefore more exciting, than automatics. I may change my mind about that after driving one of those fancy new dual clutch sequential transmissions, but for now I want a manual.

Many exotic cars have automatics. Such as Bentleys and Maybachs but I think Lexus should make autos optional like Acura does with the TL.
