that's why u get it with navi. they move the speedo back next to the tach and the navi is in the middle of the dash.

 

They centre mount the instruments for cost. This way they can use the same dash for both right hand and left hand drive countries.

But then you have a retangular navi inside of a round thing. that's even more retared. I ordered my 06 Mini in all black interior for this reason. The new interior is worse becuase they putin more painted silver plastic in it.

Most Mini owner think the new model is a step back in design direction.

 

Well, I do agreee that the new Mini Cooper's interior is a bit of an acquired taste. It has a lot of Art Deco styling touches.

What's interesting is the fact the new models now offer a six-speed automatic transmission for both the regular and turbocharged models. I think the reason is simple: better driver acceptance in the USA market, where a good-quality automatic is a must for commuter driving.

 

if you want a mini that performs, why buy the S? ever heard of the JC Works motor? 230hp or about there, supercharged, with an upgraded exhaust system and a few more performance changes.. same engine. It's quick, not like that S--standing for slow... that is a small improvement above the base model.

the centerized speedo is design on purpose. carried over from the classic mini
