I'll take a Legacy or Accord Hybrid (i know performance isnt the same, but price and power is about the same) any day, they look like they cost $30,000.

Mazda North American Operations has delayed the launch of the MazdaSpeed6 from June until autumn because Mazda engineers are at their capacity limit.

The engineers are working on upcoming launches of the higher-volume MX-5 Miata convertible and Mazda5 small minivan. The MX-5 Miata redesign is slated to arrive in the United States in early August. The Mazda5 will debut in September.

The MazdaSpeed6 is a high-performance version of the Mazda6 sedan. It features a 270-hp, 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. It also has all-wheel drive, a limited-slip differential, six-speed manual transmission and sportier suspension and brakes. The price is $28,555, including destination charges.

Mazda has started taking pre-orders for the car, at least in Japan, where it's called the Mazdaspeed Atenza.

Mazda Motor Corporation began taking orders today for the Mazdaspeed Atenza at Mazda and Mazda Anfini dealers throughout Japan. The sales launch is set for late August 2005.

Mazdaspeed Atenza comes equipped with technology independently developed by Mazda: a newly developed 2.3L direction injection gasoline turbo engine (designated the MZR 2.3L DISI Turbo*) and an electronic Active Torque Split Control All-Wheel-Drive system. It delivers a higher balance between comfort, economy and high performance that we need in everyday life.

Mazdaspeed Atenza also meets "Green Tax" standards, Japan's tax reduction regulations for eco-friendly vehicles. Certified as a Super Ultra-Low Emissions Vehicle (SU-LEV) that complies with Japan's 2005 emissions reduction standard of 75 percent, when purchasing an Mazdaspeed Atenza the owner can receive a reduction in the vehicle excise tax because it is also certified as exceeding the 2010 fuel economy standard by five percent.

* DISI: Direct Injection Spark Ignition

Blah... Mazdas are kinky chick cars. At least the old RX7 could handle, this new RX8 is pathetic.
