Default Range Rover concept

I like this one better than the current body style, what do you think?

Range Rover actually did a concept?

Not bad looking, but I don't see them producing a 2-door vehicle that's supposed to fit the credentials of a luxury SUV.

The 2-door SUV market is pretty much gone.

Excluding door count, and trying to look past the concept gimmicks, it's not a bad looking truck

It's not in production yet, and it's motor isn't that powerful. It only puts out a modest 282hp. That is gonna be it's downfall if you ask me, considering that it's luxury SUV competition like the Porsche Cayenne puts out a whopping 450hp via it's 4.5L turbocharged v8. For a supercharged v8, 282hp seems kinda low, they need to do something about that.

The durned thing ain't gonna have 282 hp. The 282 hp rating is from the BMW 4.4 liter V8 that is currently sold in the Range Rover.

BMW used to own the entire Rover group but sold it off in two chunks: Land Rover is now owned by Ford and Rover/MG cars are owned by a British investment firm.

Since Ford doesn't want to be buying engines from BMW and they also happen to own Jaguar, Land Rover is switching over to Jaguar engines. This has been known for almost a year now and hell, I even posted a thread about it: https://www.honda-acura.net/forums/s...ad.php?t=66325

This Range Stormer is not intended to be a replacement of any of the current models but to be a sort of "on road performance" oriented SUV. The concept has the same engine as the Jaguar XJR. It's a 4.2 liter supercharged V8 that puts out 390 hp.

The normally aspirated version of the same Jaguar engine is rated at 294 hp. The normally aspirated version is going to replace the 4.4 liter in the Range Rover, and when the new Discovery comes out it will get the same engine as well and possibly the V6 from the S-Type as its base motor.

The production Range Stormer may or may not get the XJR motor, but it is most definitely not getting the 282 hp BMW 4.4 liter V8 which is being totally phased out of the Land Rover lineup.

Range Stormer info from Edmonds.com The key statement is "Under the hood is a supercharged V8 — the same one that powers Jaguar's current S-Type R and XJR."

Exactly, and that supercharged Jaguar V8 is rated at 390 hp as per Jaguar's XJR site.

As I already said, the 282 hp number is the output of the 4.4 liter normally aspirated BMW V8 that the Range Rover is equipped with. It was in the previous-generation BMW 540i, 740i and X5 4.4i and has since been replaced in the BMW lineup by a 315 hp 4.4 liter V8.

Edmunds quoted the wrong figure.
