this is pissing me off...honda has the ideas and toyota brings those ideas to market first. How much do people want to bet that toyota will bring something similar to this before honda brings any kind of hybrid supercar to market.

Toyota hasn't brought anything to market: this is a concept car. Honda already beat Toyota to the concept hybrid supercar punch with the Dualnote.

Toyota will be the first to have a IMA type hybrid, i.e. the RX400h. I don't think it'll be much harder for them to increase the power. Since it's using the same power plant as the RX400h.

Toyota's hybrid systems and Honda's IMA systems are not the same thing.

Isn't IMA a term to describe a hybrid system that allow the electric motor and the gas motor to drive different wheels, like the gas powering the rear and the electric powering the front? I know that all the hybrid technology today is both motor driving the front wheel.

i don't know if there's one solid definition for integrated motor assist, but no, that's not what it means for hondas. in the insight and civic hybrid, the electric motor assists the internal combustion engine, it doesn't power different wheels independently. the gas engine doesn't have to be as powerful, so it can be signifigantly smaller and more efficient.

No. IMA™ is a trademark for Honda's hybrid system.
