Default 2005 Honda Rebel

Hey guys.. In a few weeks here Ill have myself an 05 Rebel. I was just wondering if anyone had any tips for this bike, like anything I should watch out for or any kind of special maintenance it might need.

Any info is appreciated!

That is what my ex has. She has been riding it since september and she too is wanting a bigger bike. The rebel is rarely a kept motorcycle I think. What is your build?

I would seriously suggest that if you want to stay in the cruiser world after you learn get a shadow 600 and up. The rebel is small...and I mean SMALL. The engine can hold my ex but when I ride it, it is boggy and also it vibrates a LOT.

Don't get me wrong...it is a WONDERFUL starter bike, but you can get a mid 90's Shadow for the price of a rebel and will work just as well.

I am 5' 11" 180lbs and I had a 1995 Shadow VLX600.

Remember...you can drive a 600 as a 250 AND a 600...but you can't ride a 250 like a 600...

Hmm good point, I am 6'1" 250lbs. Im assuming that with my frame this bike might not be a good choice? I do like "cruiser" style bikes.

I think with your frame the rebel would be too small of a bike ESPECIALLY for your height.

Have you sat on one? Rode one? etc...

I think cruiser bikes are the BEST to learn on. That is what they use at the MSF courses.

Forwarning. I was a cruiser guy too. Came from a harley family, hated crotch rockets, and then I rode one. They are an amazing piece of machinery.

I told the guy I am not committing to buying it, but I wanted to get a feel for it first. He lives a bit far, so I think what might be best would be to head to a bike shop and get a feel for different models and such.

Thanks for your help!

Yeah...If you do say you will only go as high as $2100. It's a 3 year old bike, and the Carb will probably need a cleaning...

But...for probably 200 more you could get a shadow. Look into the 750's too

Call this guy and offer him 2400. TAKE THE GEAR TOO. That sissy bar can go for like $80 on eBay

Wow, that is beautiful! Ill give him a call tomorrow.. Also, I sent the offer for the Rebel. If he accepts that offer I will more than likely go with that due to the lower price, but if he declines than that shadow is lookin reeal nice. Im gonna visit a bike shop tomorrow too hopefully and look around and get a feel for things.

Also, that looks like it could cater to my interests better..

Another thing, I found on craigslist an 85 Shadow 500 for $1399 with about 9k miles, listed with a small dent in the gas tank. Should I even bother considering that one?

Thanks for all the help dude, I REALLY appreciate it!
