Design Failure 101
Dear Honda,
Your evaporative emmisions system methodology is a modern day human error based design failure. The mere thought of a gas cap causing so many problems is a prime example of over design / complexity failure. It is also evidence of "crap on customer and get away with it" world. In a world where two wheel machines blow open, raw, carbureted exhaust into the American skies, Honda decides to create a faulty system that is aggravatinng a large number of their owners by an order of magnitude in the hundreds of thousands. Then by design, require them to take the junk to the dealer for reset????
The check engine, gas cap, and other related faults causing unsuspecting owners to carry this junk system to their local dealers for a F'ing "RESET" should be cause for class action suit, and charges for each each service call ever mad for this junk crap should be reimbursed to every owner, down to the penny. As the Harley Davidsons and Commercial trucks blow raw fuel vapor into the atmosphere by the megatons, this company is trying to split the atom on fuel tank pressurization and evaporative emmissions, and make us owners participate in absorbing the R&D cost. Design Failure!
This system has affected me financially, logistically, etc as an owner now on three vehicles, and although I am not bitter or scorned, one thing is certain .... It will be my last. I cannot allow this junk to disrupt the lifestyle I enjoy. Stopping eveything to take a car to dealer for ridiculous software design failure resets is not in my budget anymore.
To Honda - The one finger salute!

Its not just honda its all manufacturers.Evap system came in in the 70s and not by manufacturers design but by government emission regulations.Thy must be able to detect a hole as small as .020 of and inch small so no wonder thy throw the cel so much.If you get a dodge, chevy, ford,or any car you will have evap system problem.
Have fun with the tpms(tire pressure monitoring systems) it is mandatory for all manufactures to install a tpms system by 2008.
First time shame on them.
Second time shame on you.
Third time get a code reader and clear them your self. You can get a simple obd2 reader for about 90$ and a good diag is 90$ so.

Help yourself to the gas cap - "IDIOT" . Turn it fifty times and the light stays on. replace the cap and it stays on. Stop your life, drive to dealer, wait an indignant amount of time for a technician to hook up a Honda proprietary computer to it, make a Honda proprietary procedural reset, and it goes away.
Does that help your understanding of the issue? "Idiot"

Let's keep it civil, OK?
It is the USA that mandated all those evaporative emissions things in the late 90s. I had a few failures on my Hondas also. And my other cars!
But you should try owning a Chrysler product! Those things are MUCH worse than Honda, they are always setting CELs for emissions leaks...
(Just wait until the Govmt legislates a Rubber Band Return for Toyota throttles....)
