Default best under $40k?

which Suv option would be the best under $40k? My family owns 3 hondas, all accords and now my elder sister is considering buying a SUV next year. Was thinking Honda Pilot, maybe MDX, Pathfinder, Higlander...etc. what do you guys personally recommend for overall dependability, performance, safety, and longevity? all reponses appreciated. thanx.

i tried to build & price on on toyota's website and they only had 4 cyl models avail - $20-26k if you add up the option packages along the model lines...they didn't even have v6 listed so you are talking the price of a pilot for the v6 rav4
