Default 00 CRV - Power Issue

Looking for some suggestions.

2000 CRV (100K).

My girl drives our CRV and I drove it for the first time in a while the other day. I did not like how timidly the CRV started up. Just barely, it was almost as if nothing had happened. While idling at a stop light, I noticed that the engine was coughing/sputtering, the lights dimmed and came back up.

I got her a new battery and she revved right up. I tested the alternator as well, no luck. It's fine. However, she still sputters and coughs while idling. It seems as if she wants to shut down. Any ideas?

Suggest:
1) check the valve-lash

2) clean the throttle body

This assumes the plugs, air filter, PCV valve are OK? (Normal maintenance)

I'll check:

-Valve Lash
-PCV Valve

- Air Filter and plugs were changes recently.

I'll check them out.

Thanks.
