I took my 2001 MDX for emission testing and they said that the OBD would not communicate with their test equipment.

Has anyone heard of this before, or have any way to test it short of having an OBD tester?

 

Yeah they failed you because they suck. If the lCEL lights up when you first start the car then goes out its ok. They either have a problem with there machines or the guy testing it doesn't know what he's doing. From what i understand here in Jersey they have to fail a certain number each month.

I also had an 02 accord today with the same thing. They failed for no communication and when i hooked up our tester i had no problem.

So i would just go back and have it re-inspected.

no, nothing wrong
It was a customers car, i use a scan tool and accessed the pcm. If there was a problem it would have said the same thing for me
