Default 2005 Pilot Octane Recommendations

I just purchased a 2005 Pilot EX-L. The owners manual recommends 91 or higher gasoline. I was told at the dealership that running regular unleaded would not be a problem. Is this true?

Run the higher octane. If it tells you to, do it. The engine runs more efficiently when you put this octane into it. Do it now and save yourself some costly repairs down the road.

Honda has advanced the timing on the 2005 Pilot in order to bump up that extra 15hp and 8ft lbs of torque out of the same motor. That is why the owner's manual recommands the premium fuel. It's fine if you use the regular unleaded, but the engine's peformance will reduce to 240hp like the the 03-04 models, which are suggested to run the regular.

Man....I thought I was saving on premium fuel by getting rid of the Acura CLS. h:

Goes to show what kind of research I did and what was important in a car. Oh well.

Honda recommends 87 Octane. The owners manual has a mis print.
