shaking during acceleration
My 97 rl is experiencing shaking during acceleration from 40-50mph. Has anyone else had this problem or know what this can be attributed to? I would much appreciate any responses.
If it occurs through 40-50 mph while cruising or accelerating it is possible it is tire balancing. However, if it is just when accelerating I would agree that it is not a balance problem. Usually, this is typical. Once when my tires were out of balance, there was no shaking. However, between 65-75 mph it was quite noticable. Before and after that interval it was fine. Is the shaking coming from the steering wheel? If so, it is probably one of the the front tires that is out. If not, it is most likely a rear tire.
Hope that helps

I agree with MPM77. I experiened the same thing with my '97. Do you have stock rims or aftermarket rims? And did you bump into anything(i.e. large pothole, curb) that could have bent one of your rims un-noticed? If not, your best bet would be to get everything balanced and aligned.
One other thing to consider. Not sure if you just got new tires, but a friend of mine had just bought new tires and had this problem. The shop balanced the tires two or three times and it still occured. They then inspected the tires and said that the tires were out-of-round and replaced them. Problem solved.
My 96 RL was shaking severely only during acceleration and between 40 and 60 mph and then again from 80 mph on up. The car would only shake when the throttle was engaged, I though it was my bent up aluminum rims and replaced them, it still shook. Then I had Acura look at it and they said my CV boots were about to come loose. I never would have guessed CV boots, it didn't make any noise or have any symptom that I knew of related to CV joints. Anyway, that is exactly what it was.
