96RL EGR "flow insufficient"
Hi all. First post here. I rarely lift the hood on my RL so I figured I'd ask here before I start poking around in the engine bay.
We just started emission testing here in my area (NC). I have a trouble code that says "egr flow insuffient". I think the code was something like 0401. I'm not familiar with Honda/Acura codes. Can I simply pull the egr valve and clean it? If so...where is it and what does it look like? I'm sure I'll need to go ahead a buy a new gasket before I attempt this but any info would be greatly appreciated. I need to get this fixed so I can pass inspection. Thanks in advance! Craig

Update: I called my Acura dealer and told them what my car was doing and that I had heard of some issues they have had with the same problem on many cars. They offered to clean the egr system free. I took the car in and they kept it for a day. On the way home, the check engine light came back on. Same problem! I called them just after it came on. They said "bring it back". I took it back a few days later. This time they removed the intake and did a more thorough clean job of the egr ports. No charge! I thought it was pretty cool. Good service. Car runs much better and feels stronger now. Being going strong now for 2 weeks, no ses light.
All Honda and acura's have an emissions extension that covers emission related repairs
depending if you live in Ca or anywhere besides Ca decided how long and miles it's covered. I thought last time I looked it was around 7yrs or 100k. I could be wrong it changes like every couple months.
