Default tips for integra owners

Here are a few things i have learned while ive owned my integra.

~ Dont piss people off. They will key every panel of your car.

~ Park out in east jesus when you go out. If you dont, some idiot will hit you and take off.

~ Leave your windows cracked open on hot days especially if you have tint. If your car gets too hot, the back window will implode and shatter. Just so you know, the back window for a 96 teg is $1000, not including labor.

Like I said, these are the few lessons I've learned over the past year. Ive had the teg for 2 years now, but everything ive mentioned has happened in the last eight months.

I agree with number 1

East Jesus? First time I heard that.

The third one I totally disagree. Your rear window imploded because it got too hot inside? Who fed you that baloney?

1.
Let me get technically for a minute. When air gets hot it expands, that's how hot air balloons work. So even if it got too hot inside your car, the glass would explode not implode. Glass would go on the outside of the car not in.

2.
Anyway, you think Honda would design a car where glass breaks when it gets too hot and not get sued?

3.
Never leave a crack in your window. You're inviting thieves to break into your car. I see people do it all the time. Makes it cooler inside. What would you like cooler inside or someone jack your car?

You probably pissed off someone and parked too close to them so they took a bat to your back window.

i think the imploding is a bunch of crap as well. but that is what everyone from family to acura has told me. but the window shattered and it has one spot where it spider webs out so i think someone hit it. it would make sense, my car is cursed.

When ever you leave anything cracked open, it makes it just a bit easier for someone to break in. But I agree with airon, if you are going to crack a window, the sunroof is your best bet. They won't break a sunroof to get in if they want the car. Sunroofs just cost too much.

LOL, since when do thieves worry about the cost of stuff they're breaking? there's more expensive $#it on a car than itz sunroof. Trust, someone at my work had their car broken into by sunroof, itz just big enough to let someone slide thru. I keep my car locked as tight as a drum because of that...not to mention because of all the horror stories on this site.

if you think about the heat thing then that means that pressure built up inside the car..... well there are holes in your ac vents and prob a couple on the firewall that leak as well. just to share a few thoughts.

not to mention, in the hatch area there is a vent below the power antenna that allows pressure to escape into the fenderwell.

there's also a vent with a lid, mounted on the rear fender, under the bumper, that lets air escape right out of your hatch.

every time you slam your doors shut, you can hear the lid pop open and close. i imagine the lid is there to allow air pressure to release, so that your windows don't shatter when you close a door. i'm sure it also allows air to escape, when it expands from sitting in the sun.

i have heard of windshields "popping" from the heat though, but unless you live somewhere where it can get insanely hot and humid, someone must have smashed your window.
