Default N/A cams work with boost?

Ive been thinking about building the head of my gsr before i end up going turbo. I was looking around and i know that overlap is not something you want when you are running a turbo. My friend said that you could run CTR cams and you would be able to tune out the overlap once you turbo. If this is true couldnt you tune out the overlap with any cam? I was looking at crower and skunk 2 stage 2's and just wondering if it would be an alright idea to build my head then have them tuned again once im boosted or if that is a recipe for disaster. I just want something to give me a little more power and help in the long run as well. Any responses would be much appreciated. Or ideas thoughts. Anything pretty much.....

Skunk 2 stage 3 cams are not streetable, they will eat your stock rockers. If you want to build up your head now, get some N/A cams until you have enough for turbo. Once you go turbo get rid of the N/A cams...the skunk2 stage 2 cams are too big to tune out the overlap. CTR's are much more mild. Keep your stock cams, and when you go boosted put them back in, and sell the skunks...then get some crower turbo grind cams.

Having a couple friend with 400+whp turbo civics my best advice is to just use your stock cams. Cams arent worth it for turbo.

You can remove some of the overlap through tuning of adjustable cam gears. Still, the setting with the least overlap might mess up the timing so much that you make less power than if you run a little more overlap.

If you're planning on a turbo, I would skip the cams for now. You can make a ton of power with other means through forced induction--cams should be the route you choose once your other options have been exhausted. Maybe I would get a set of turbo cams to make more power for a particular boost level without having to build up the bottom end to take more boost but yeah. You can put 260 hp to the wheels with a properly tuned turbo setup on a stock-internals GSR motor. If you really need to get past that then I would worry about the cams.

(It's still good however to have adjustable cam gears with a turbo setup because tuning them on a dyno can yield pretty solid improvements in driveability and power.)

You can tune out the overlap.... but why buy NA cams when boost cams are the same price?

Turbo first... head upgrades are much more expensive than just cams.
